What kind of person owns a copy of Mein Kampf, a bust of Adolf
Hitler and a Second World War German helmet? Furthermore, what kind of person attempts to sell these three items, along with
his complete collection of ‘historical reprints' from Steven Books, on E-Bay? All of this was listed in August under
the E-Bay ID account bobb3243, that of Robert Best of Warnham in West Sussex.
In the previous
issue of European Socialist Action, we reported that Best had been made New British Union's District Officer
for ‘West Warnham', using a Facebook page under the name of Robert Morris but was subsequently easily identified by
the usual tell-tale signs from this fantasist. He contacted me recently to state that he had resigned from this post, along
with a few other confessions regarding his current beliefs. Clearly, he did not like being rumbled recently. Way back
in 2006, Best offered £2,000 to me if I would take on the role of "leader". I accepted and a cheque from the
National Westminster Bank duly arrived soon after. What a nice chap, I thought, but not for long. He had an ulterior motive.
BEST THE PEST
Robert Best wanted to control the way European
Action was to operate and he used the letters page of this publication to outline his ideas. He called for an official
card membership, meetings in local halls and annual dinners for the membership. In other words, he wanted supporters' identities
and their numbers revealed.
I then became the recipient of regular weekly hand-written letters
from Best instructing me on how to run European Action.
I explained that formal membership
left us open to infiltration and that all supporters of European Action preferred the voluntary association under
which we operate. We have always respected confidentiality and the wish for anonymity.
We
published his letters on the letters' page with an editor's reply. It was only when Best refused to accept my position on
this that his subscription was cancelled and he became persona non grata. Best then embarked on an online campaign
of vilification against me using forums such as Stormfront UK and VNN. He was fed with lies from Keith Thompson, a Searchlight
informant and agent provocateur. Back in the 1990s, Gerry Gable paid Thompson the sum of £2,000 for mailing lists
and other confidential information relating to British nationalists, the exact same sum Best had offered to me. Thompson would
boast to the printer Tony Hancock, over the phone, that Best was doing a wonderful job on the forums, no doubt including attacking
European Action.
Best demanded the return of his donation of £2,000 on the grounds
that I did not comply with his frequent demands even though there were no pre-conditions attached to the original offer of
a donation. I then became suspicious of Best as possibly being in the services of Searchlight, bearing in mind he
was in cahoots with Keith Thompson since the mid-1990s and took instructions from him. The connection was crystal clear.
THE POLITICAL BUTTERFLY
Best had tried to ingratiate himself
into every far-right group in Britain. You name it, he was busy scribbling letters to them and promoting them on Stormfront
and other white supremacist sites. He even tried to represent them. He first tried to establish a presence with something
called Action League incorporating four existing organisations, totally unconnected to each other. He had the late
South Coast printer, Tony Hancock, print membership cards for Action League, a few of which Tony passed onto me (right).
Best described Action League as an umbrella organisation without consulting any of
the groups referred to on the back of his cards. He was forced to drop it.
Best tried to start
a publication of his own, posing as a Mosley supporter. He gave it the title of UNION and filled it with plagiarism, a vice
for which he later became addicted. Again, Tony Hancock passed Best's hand-written proofs onto me (top right of page), being
suspicious of Best's motives. UNION was never printed.
Steven Books, run by Searchlight
informant Keith Thompson, published one or two booklets by Best, notably an entirely plagiarised piece on the British Free
Corps, to which group of traitors it was dedicated ... by Best.
It came to the attention of
the American ‘New Order' and veteran American Nazi, Matt Koehl, who praised it to the hilt in this message to Martin
Kerr of the British magazine Heritage and Destiny, to which publication Best became a prolific letter writer and
‘expert' on Oswald Mosley.
I confronted Best on the wisdom of endorsing
the British Free Corps given Mosley's message in 1940 that members of British Union should do nothing to harm this country.
Mosley encouraged members to join HM Forces and to fight for Britain. A message clearly at odds with Best's glowing admiration
for the British Free Corps dressed up in their German uniforms. This rather explains Best's ownership of a Second World War
German helmet, a bust of Adolf Hitler, along with a copy of Mein Kampf.
I have no objection to anyone admiring Hitler and the military ambitions of the Nazis.
It is a free country or so they say. What I do object to is someone praising Hitler and Mosley in the same breath.
Oswald Mosley was a British patriot. Any British soldier who donned a German uniform in 1940 was something
quite different to that, whatever the finer points of the usual ideological arguments.
BEST THE CON-MAN
I came across a blog quite by chance. It was set up
in January of this year and offered something unbelievable. With the old adage in mind, if something sounds too good to be
true then it usually is, I discovered how low the subject of this article could descend.
This
blog belongs to Robert Best and he is quite clear about his intentions. The purpose is to con people out of their money.
Go to http://bestpublications.blogspot.com before he takes it down. Its title is OCCULT and UFO
REPORTS and purports to offer a service of sorts. This is what he is offering for a mere £500. As he says,
"I was happy to send £500 to the person who revealed this amazing secret to me". He says there is no catch
... apart from the £500, of course. The booklet costs an extra tenner.
THE MAGICK WEALTH FORMULA
Riches, true love
and perfect health can now be yours! I am willing to share with you the magick formula, which can make all your dreams come
true. I am not the originator of the formula. I acquired it and accepted it, on the understanding that I would make a £500

use of the premises as a business address.

I have highlighted certain
sections in bold for specific reasons. First, he claims, "This unusual formula has brought me all I've ever wanted and
much more", and yet he still wants £500 from you. He says he was penniless but now he has all the money he ever
wished for ... and more. So why is he flogging obscure books on a blog?
The fact is, Best is
still "poor, lonely and suffering from ill-health" (his own words) and is simply deluding himself.
Best sends me one of his lengthy handwritten letters dated 29th July 2013 but this one is different to all the others.
MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES
In this letter, Best reveals he has had
a change of heart of the road to Damascus variety. Yes, folks, an epiphany of massive proportions.
He
tells me,
Dear Robert Edwards,
I have now retired from active involvement in politics and wish to promote peace and
love, as Jesus Christ encouraged us to do. Hatred against Muslims, Jews and ethnic minorities is not good and I am trying
to leave my previous extremism behind with the help of my Portuguese ex-girlfriend (we are still close friends) who introduced
me to her pleasant black neighbours and their son.
When a drunken yob
recently shouted xenophobic and racist abuse at my Italian wife outside our front window it really woke me up to the harmful
poison of bigotry and prejudice.
I have now resigned as West Sussex
District Leader of the New British Union and have requested that Stormfront disable and delete my account. Furthermore, I
will be selling off my collection of political books and literature.
I
am now concentrating on looking after my loved ones and family, and recovering from mental health problems. Sanity is a most
precious thing and I want to regain my humanity! Finally, I sincerely wish to avoid any further conflict with you now or in
the future. I am still pro-European Unity while respecting other peoples such as the Tibetans, Japanese and Palestinians.

Best
He addressed the envelope to Your Letters, European Action, but this is a
more appropriate way of publishing it. This is still the letters page, after all. For a man who seemed more
focused on immigration and race than any other aspect of politics, his discovery of black neighbours being "pleasant"
does not quite ring true. His statement that he is recovering from mental health problems does, however. Note that he is not
fully recovered. Nor does he go into any detail on the nature of these mental health problems. Suffice it to say, the fact
that he feels the compulsion to mention his mental health problems at all indicates something significant. I passed this letter
onto a colleague and he said, "Something has happened to him". The bit about someone shouting racist abuse outside
his front window is another big clanger on his part. The front window is screened off by a tall and massive uncut hedge, according
to the online Google map facility.
He says he is trying to leave his extremism behind
him. If he has found Jesus Christ then surely that would be enough to drop his extremism like a hot potato. Why the need for
an ex-girlfriend in this aim when he purports to have a wife, previously described as Spanish but is now Italian? To use his
phrase, he is in fact "poor, lonely and suffering from ill-health". His claim "to have all the money I could
ever wish for - and more" is not only a fantasy on his part but runs counter to the Christian proverb, "It is easier
for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God".
BEST THE AGENT PROVOCATEUR
For eight years, Best has
maintained a campaign of defamation against this publication and its editor. He has done this in collusion with a few other
individuals opposed to European Action and our policy of contemporary European Socialism. These people include informant
for Searchlight, Keith Thompson, the paranoid-schizophrenic webmaster of the FOM website and Sinn Fein supporter
(now moved to Spain) Karl Winn, former NSM member John Harrison of the two man and a dog outfit the League of St George
and former civil servant at the Public Records Office and independent researcher, Jeffrey Wallder of the Friends
of Oswald Mosley. All of them know each other personally and all of them have opposed and attacked European Action
from time to time. But we have survived them all, through thick and thin, thanks largely to the loyal support and encouragement
of our subscribers. Nothing can break that spirit.
Best had already been caught out sending
European Action details to a Zionist organisation other than Searchlight. The evidence is on our website.
What of the Searchlight connection, you may ask. We have more than circumstantial evidence linking Keith Thompson
to Searchlight. We have an eye witness report of the events in Kensington Library in the early 1990s when Thompson
was on the door letting in Anti-Fascist Action and Zionist Gerry Gable of Searchlight. The eye witness saw
Thompson shake hands warmly with Gable twice that evening. The occasion was a book symposium with many far right people attending.
Several were seriously injured as a consequence of Thompson's treachery that night.
Robert Best
became Thompson's protegé not long after. Interestingly, Best has never attacked Searchlight anywhere or at
anytime. I find this very unusual considering Best's penchant for ingratiating himself with every extreme right group going.
All of these groups would be on Searchlight's ‘hit list' and in heightened awareness of Zionist Gerry Gable's
anti-fascist activities.
By their confederates shall you know them. Best has been a close and regular
accomplice to Keith Thompson, passing information onto him, for many years now. Has Best finally failed as his tool and that
of Searchlight? Is he more of an embarrassment than an asset now? Watch this space.
